Hunt #2

We had our second hunt for the day at home.  It was inside (again) due to our typical, ever-changing, freaky Utah weather.

I like to have the “Fun Side” of Easter on Saturday, the day before, so we can focus on the real meaning of Easter on Sunday.  Sure, there is the left-over candy, the fun toys, and the new dresses to take our attention still, but I try to have the focus of the day be on that greatest event, the resurrection of our Savior.

The girls also get less candy in our own little family hunt.  I know they get it from both Grandmas, so we chill out just a wee bit on the sweet stuff.

(It also helps that Easter candy is my FAVORITE and I already have a few large stashes around the house..  I really don’t need to buy anymore!)

I have to admit, it does look more like Christmas.

Peyton’s favorite:

Her slinky!  She even went to bed with it.

I made the girls a few new things, pajamas being one of those things.  I hid them as one of their Easter gifts.

I wanted to have a little more symbolism to go with them, something about how Christ rose from the slumber of death and so shall we, but I think it went over their heads a little bit..

 

They went to bed, excited to have the next day, staying at home, watching conference, playing with their toys and eating treats and going to Grammy’s for one more hunt..

Hunt #1

During our first break from conference on Saturday, we went up to Merrill’s parents for our first Easter egg hunt.

It is always highly anticipated because the girls get to be with their cousins, and there’s lots of candy.

This year it was held indoors due to the very un-springlike weather outside.

Merrill is usually rather camera shy.

But his cousin Matt was there, got Mer-Bear to loosen up a bit and I managed to get a few good ones.

Spring break!

We really didn’t do much for spring break this year..

I sewed, in preparation for Easter.

Took Ashley to the doctor for her kindergarten check-up.  She got three shots, didn’t bat an eye.  Peyton had to get one that they have been out of since her 18 month check-up (immunize by 2..  it’s up to you!).  She wasn’t as stoic as her sister.

Lynn has had her two front teeth loose for a while now.  They moved in unison  but weren’t doing much else, even with my pinning her down and wiggling those babies.

Friday, we discovered why.  They were both still fixed pretty well in the middle, and they kept bumping into each other.

After more wiggling, we got one out:

The other one was more than ready, but Lynn wasn’t.

I threw out my best bribes, but she wasn’t going for it.

Before our First Egg hunt the next morning, Lynn came to me in tears.

“My tooth is just bugging me so bad!  I want it out..”

I tried to get her to do it herself, it was just dangling there, but she wanted me to do it, and she wanted a prayer first.  Just like last time.  It came out pretty easy, just like last time.

She is pretty cute.

She is also worried about the coming corn on the cob season.

We also know where to go if we are in need of any cash.  This girl is raking it in!

10 Years Ago..

Happy Anniversary Merrill.

We (heart) storms!

Last night, we were all snuggled up on the couch, trying to find something to watch after “Spaceballs” had ended, something worthwhile, you know?  And it hit us, it was Thursday night, which means only one thing: The Office.

Or “Michael” as Peyton calls it.

Sadly, and disappointingly, it was a re-run (we were looking forward to something fresh.  We had just watched “Spaceballs” after all ;)..).  But soon enough, there was another of our favorite forms of entertainment upon us.

Lightening!

At first, Merrill believed it to be the light from cars driving on the road outside, but as it became increasingly more intense, we all knew it was more than traffic.

Now weather has been weird, to say the least, around here lately, so as the snow fell all last night and on and off during the day today, we should have been expecting thunder and lightening.

And more snow with it.

We all headed to Lynn’s room to watch the light show unfold, and got a good one!

I am so thankful for these quiet moments we get to share and enjoy as a family.  I am even more thankful that we have groomed the girls to not be afraid of it.

When Lynn was younger than Peyton, she would go nuts over a storm.  One summer night, it was she who woke us up, not the storm.  She was running up and down the hallway, giggling and chanting, “Funder and lie-ning!  Funder and lie-ning!”

It’s just our kind of family fun.  Had it not been so cold outside, we would have been on the porch. :)

The girls decided to sleep all together in Lynn’s room, on their bed made on the floor so they could continue their watch for lightening.  It was quite heartwarming to walk in and see Lynn, reading a book to her sisters with her little lamp on.

I love seeing how close they are!

Kindergarten Checklist

We have kept busy this week with the necessary appointments for Ashley’s Kindergarten paperwork.

Dentist, check.

Doctor, check.

Fun shots, check.

I have been continually praying, literally every step of the way, for guidance to know if what I am doing is the right thing for her.

I know that she WILL NOT have that one teacher.

No way Jose.

As I filled out the round-up sheet, I prayed.  I also received the feeling that I should just be still, that it will all be okay.

And that is what my answer continues to be, every step of the way.

She was awesome at her dentist appointment.  I remember Lynn being a little more freaked out and I was kind of worried hearing Lynn prep Ashley for everything that was going to happen.  But she was fine, she was her silly, relaxed self.  The dentist said her teeth were PERFECT!  To keep up on the fluoride (when I remember) and to continue with our brushing habit (I have turn, then she does), and flossing (oh, how I need to be so much better!)

The kid earned TWO tokens, she was that awesome.

It was also a blessing that we happened to have a credit on our account there.  That meant that yesterday was covered!  One more thing that I budgeted for, but have some extra cash due to that little, heaven sent, credit. :)

Today we went for her well-child check.  She was even sillier there.  Our doctor loves us I am sure.  Imagine how fun our appointment was for him, me + 3 silly girls.  It was fun.

It was even funner for Ashley who got 3 shots, and didn’t cry.  Didn't even tear up!  (Her leg is hurting her tonight..  hopefully that Tylenol and heating pad helped ease her discomfort enough to sleep well.)  She did have Lynn holding one hand while I held the other.  Lynn is such a sweet sister.

Peyton on the other hand, was a different story.  She cried and looked rather betrayed and let that nurse know it when she had to get that one cocktail to get her up to date.  Poor kid.

We were also lucky enough to arrive the exact same time as the Lincare guy who was dressed as the Easter Bunny.

What a fun coincidence!

Lynn and Ash were stoked to be the first to pick a treat from his basket, but Peyton was leery of the fuzzy-suited guy.  She still didn’t  like him much after he took off the mask.  I hope she doesn’t develop a fear of the Easter Bunny like I did of clowns.

My experience was  around two also. :O
