Costumes...

So, I finally finished the girls' Halloween costumes...No patterns.
Lynn's took a couple of days work.. I am sure I resembled C3PO with hair by the end. The glitter wasn't meant to stay on the fabric, apparently.Ashley's was so easy, a jumper, what's hard about that?Peyton's... I just wasn't going to attempt a Flying Monkey or Glenda the good (I'm gonna be the wicked witch)... so I bought hers! Now Halloween is all taken care of!

Hopefully the music doesn't start playing...

Really, there are so many people to thank!
Well, first, Heavenly Father who has given me all of my gifts and talents...
Then next would be Cutie Pie Hair Creations, for the nod...
My mom, for teaching me my skillz...
My Grandmother's, well, for the genetics, but for teaching my mom, and me...
My Great-Grandmothers... for starting it all...
My mother-in-law, for bestowing upon me cool new gadgetry of various mediums.. and most recently, her Cricut ;)
JoAnn's, Robert's, Michael's, Ben Franklin's, many inspiring web sites... Creating Keepsakes...
Sleepless nights...
My shower, for it is the best thinking place EVER!!!
Other talented people who often plant the seed of an idea... until it rolls like a snowball down a mountainside...
Oh, and my hard-working husband, who funds all of my exploratory crafting efforts!
Okay... I'll get on with it...
Here's the rules:
Nominate at least 3 more blogs (It used to be 10, but come on, lets save some for the others... and notice I said AT LEAST 3... feel free to do more!) of any kind that you love to read. Write a post about the blogs you picked, linking back to me and to them. Once you’ve posted, return here to let me know your post is done and be sure to let them know, too!! So here are my picks for the award - no particular favorite listed first, or last...
1- Babbling Blather... because sometimes, you just need it... okay, more than just sometimes... A LOT OF THE TIME!!! I just wish the posts were in conjunction with my daily struggles and the exact time they take place... and a little alarm would "ding!" to let me know there was some comic relief.... plus this guy is just plain cute!
2- Mr. & Mrs. Pockets... because I love to hear about how awesome and loved my little bro is... yes, he is the superhero in just about every tale told... and she's a girl after my own heart! Crafty, all mom-ish... that's why I am leaving my kiddos to her in case anything tragic should befall me... and no, there is no family style favoritism going on here...
3- Just Us... or as I like to call her, "E-Kartch"... now she knows! Eeekk!... but I love the woman! She is incredibly talented... she has two girls, I have two girls (+1 ;)...). She loves to scrap, I love to scrap! She is witty and fun, I try to be... She's always trying something new, and I wanna too. She bears her testimony like it's nothin', and I love that! She loves give aways, as do I! Basically I love to read her blog and I try not to constantly leave comments like I am stalking her...
So there it is.. I feel kinda naked now:-0... and I hear the strings beginning to play.. here comes that girl to escort me off of the stage...

Exploding Diaper Detail...

So at the risk of being too graphic, I am still posting this, as I am laughing about it and have been all day...
Peyton has been a little backed-up since the solid foods push of summer/fall '08. I backed off of the spoon required num-a-nums for a few days in the hopes that her bowels would return from their vacation, and purge what I knew was contained within their winding walls. (Notice the past-tense..)
So yesterday, I was packing away many "baby"things, as Peyton has decided to grow and she is much too mature for some objects in her room, things like tummy time mirrors, which have turned into mini step stools for her, and burp cloths, that have been more like decorations, mobiles, which just encourage her to reach higher, and the jumper, which is more like a prison to the eight month old who would much rather be crawling about and pulling herself up to other objects, rather than stuck in the confines of the jumper. I also packed away the breast pump and storage bags... which is an entirely different subject and very depressing to me...
I was pondering the fact that I really haven't had to cart around a burp cloth or two everywhere I go either within my home or elsewhere, like I did with the other two, and thought to myself, "Wow! She really has never been spitty.. I haven't had to deal with exploding poopie diapers at the same frequency as I am accustomed to, either."
Well, that one little thought was all it took, apparently.
This morning, while sitting in her high chair, and I was cleaning up breakfast, Peyton became slightly fussy. A little agitated, one might say. As I picked her up for her high chair, I discovered why. She had beautiful Peyton poop all up her back.
As I lay her down to change her, well, really to strip her of the stained PJ's, I discovered that it was not only just up her back, but up her front as well.
I proceeded to strip the poop soaked clothing from her now yellowish-greenish body, to prepare her for a much needed bath. I left her to sit on her bedroom floor, in her birthday suit, with some toys to play with whilst I drew her bath.
As I came back to her room to take her to the bathroom, I noticed a puddle on the floor. After I thought that everything possible could have exited her little body, I was shown how incorrect I was.
I went back to the bathroom, where there is a well placed linen closet with these awesome and much needed towels, to retrieve one of the said towels. I cleaned up the mess, and got back to the business at hand.
I was soon shown that even that was not the end of what was contained within that small explosive body...
I plopped her down in the bubble bath and warm water of the bathtub. She began to splash, as usual. I got a little wet, as usual. Then she smiled at me. Awwwe... I love that. Then she grunted. I held my breath. It was only a fart. But that bubbling gas fest was quickly followed by another grunt, a little more purposeful in sound, and soon thereafter, a shooting, squirting sound came forth. It reminded me of the F-16s that fly above my home just about every day.
The once clean, bubbly, heavenly, cleansing bath, was now that all too familiar yellowish greenish, Peyton poop color.
While she sat on the bathroom floor, with a towel wisely placed between her bare bum and the floor this time :), I drained the tub, cleaned it, re-poured her bath, and cleaned up the stinker, quickly, before any other shenanigans could take place on my watch.
Ahhh... will I ever learn to never say "never"?

Ashley Homemade Tomaoto Juice...

Ashley has now begun a new venture.. I should add that it sprung from her genetically inherited love of tomatoes.
That means this venture is pleasure, not business.
She is making her own freshly squeezed tomato juice...
(Be careful... these directions are intense!)
What you need:
1 cup
6-7 larger sized grape tomatoes
your hands, cleanliness is optional :)
Not so carefully, squeeze one tomato at a time, into your desired cup.
It really doesn't matter if it all gets in the cup...
On your shirt or counter surface is fine too.
After either eating or discarding the juice-less tomato carcasses, drink up!
While you may desire to watch for seeds in your teeth... seeds on your counter top are totally acceptable!
WARNING: HANDMADE, FRESHLY SQUEEZED TOMATO JUICE LEAVES A RING THAT IS MUCH DARKER THAN A WATER RING!!! (HAS SLIGHTLY MORE TEXTURE THAN WATER TOO...)

The way to a fun day...

I've discovered the way to have a super fun day...
Fill it with two silly four year olds!
We had Nathan (or James as he called himself today...) over and we played and played and played...
He and Ash want to be cousins... but for now will just settle on being "buddies", they've decided.
This kid is so much fun, Lynn didn't want to go to school and miss out on any fun.
How can I complain? I didn't have to do any boring old chores like laundry, vacuuming, making beds, doing dishes... instead, I got to play Candy Land, and Candy Land castle (one of their favorites...), and I spy (he loves my Homer Simpson clock!), and cars/superheroes...
What a fun day!

Eight Months...

Here she is...Torturing me with all of her eight month old cuteness...I can hardly believe that this year has gone by this fast! She is:
-crawling.
-saying "Ooooohhh!" a lot, I should post the video Mer took of that...
-standing (started that yesterday, she'll do it in 5 second spurts...)
-talks to us (in Peyton speak) and uses her hands...
-laughs.
-has figured out how to get under, over, or around just about anything (chairs as baby gates at the top of the stairs, not working anymore. She can get under the chair...). I should also include up. Up the stairs, up and on top of any low stool...
-is now beginning to understand object permanence... no more hiding the remote :)
-squeals with excitement for her sisters... occasionally for me, usually for Merrill.
-throws little mini fits, but it is so cute! She waves her arms like a fanatic.
-LOVES the tub! If she hears tub water pouring, she's crawling as fast as she can to get there. She also tries to throw herself into the tub... head first of course.
-pulls herself up on anything, it doesn't have to be stable, just taller than her, and grip-able. That plug-in night light, yeah, it works just fine!
-she is our new best little vacuum ever! She gets up all of those annoying little scraps of paper, lint, and dried up specks of fluorescent green play dough...
-loves to give open-mouth kisses. She'll give you even more if you cheer loudly after the first one. She loves to give the girls bedtime kisses too as they lay in their beds.
-claps for everything.. yeah!!!
-enjoying more solid foods.
-says ""ccccaahhhk!"...What I am doing:
-vacuuming, A LOT.
-trying to find a better baby gate... I call it vigilance.
-bagging up all of those Barbie and Kelly shoes... I think the vacuum took care of the Polly Pocket ones ;)
-taking out night lights.
-filling the un-plugged outlets with safety plugs.
-tickling.
-sharing bites of my food, especially ice cream and root beer floats.
-laughing.
-clapping and saying "Yeah!" A LOT.
-saying "bleh!" and "ccccaahhhk!" A LOT.
-giving lots of baths!
-giving and getting lots of kisses, and then wiping my face, with a beach towel ;)
-loving every minute of it.
But now she's not feeling too well :(... hopefully it's just teeth.
