Day 18.

I am so thankful for a supportive husband.

He took the day off today (he tries to every Thursday) and even though he had the day off, he really didn’t.  He supported me in something that I wanted to do, something that would help to develop my talents (which I am also thankful for), and sacrificed a day for us to just “be” together.

I am thankful for his unselfishness.

I am also thankful for a strong body that was able to carry me throughout this busy day, that even though I feel tired, I know I will get a good night’s rest because I gave today my all.

Just another day...

Woke up this morning after having nothing but Obama dreams.. I woke up, not wondering if it was real, but remembering the night before; witnessing history. No staying up late, watching the returns come in, wondering who will eek away with a lead.. no. That was decided pretty early on in the evening. Months ago, really...
I must say, that both candidates speeches were very eloquent and gracious.
I somehow feel hope.
But on to fun stuff...
We spent the afternoon at mom's. Catching up, crocheting/knitting, and laughing.
I am so thankful to have my mom! I have realized lately, that everything I do, is either something my mom has taught me, or something that she, my grandma, and I would do together. Sewing Lynn's costume, with Grandma's machine, I felt like she was there, reminding me to take out the straight pins before they passed under the presser foot ;)... While I crochet, with her hooks, I remember her teaching me how to hold them so my hand wouldn't cramp.
I miss her.
But I am so thankful that my girls and I still have my mom, their grandma, who can teach them the same things.
Grandpa said such a sweet prayer over dinner as we were getting ready to leave. His voice is so sincere and tender.. I can't help but think of how much he misses Grandma too. He prayed for all of his children and grand-children. He prayed for us to be safe as we drove home. I love my Grandpa!
Ashley and I had an interesting exchange today while picking up a few groceries...
It involved her favorite word as of late...
Ass.
We were picking out bananas.
Me: "Ash, you have a banana ear..."
Ash: "Mom, you have a banana nose.."
Me: "You have a banana mustache..." (There was an old cowboy walking past with a good looking mustache...)
Ash: (Now brace yourself...) "You have a banana ASS..."
Me: "Ash! (Trying not to laugh...) We don't say that word!"
Ash: "But mom, everyone has an ASS..."
Me: (Still trying not to laugh...) "We still don't say it."
Ash: "Why?"
Me: "Because if any of these people heard you say that, they would know that I am a bad mom..."
Ash: "Then the police would come and under-arrest you, huh?"
Now what would Grandma think of that?

Just call it Tuesday tag day...

My childhood friend, Tiffany, did this tag. It looked like fun.
So don't be a bum, do it too!
Six random things about ME!
1. I do not like clowns. I think it would be safe to say that I hate them. Hate is a strong word, I know, but I could seriously care less if they existed. I would much prefer a parade or a circus without them. I was scarred for life on my second birthday when my aunt Wendy, invited her buddy "Corky the Clown", as "the entertainment". There is honestly something wrong with someone who thinks it would be "fun" to cover their real identity with something that really isn't that friendly looking. But seriously, there are so many serial killers who dress as clowns, they hide who they really are with the demented white-washed face and exaggerated features slathered on with greasepaint, and then try to make you their friend. (Shudder...)
2. I have A+ blood, and believe that genetic factor contributes to my perfectionist attitude. (Get it, A+, like a grade...)
3. I have a record. Misdemeanor Mindy, you can call me. It came from the short time period in which I worked for Smith's as a bagger/checker, and my duties were in that order. It was my day to bag, but the store soon got busy and they needed me to check. My first time ever, and I got caught in a police sting. I was so flustered when this guy wanted to buy a single, over-sized can of beer, I by-passed the I.D. prompt in trying to figure out how to ring it up correctly. Needless to say, he got a great deal, and I got busted. At least I am smiling in my mugshot!
4. I have a sweet tooth. I could easily make a meal out of a bag of sugar.
5. I still have dreams about waking up late for school, having nothing to wear because my closet is full of my high school wardrobe... and when I get there, after trying to gat the girls ready and find a babysitter, I can't remember if it's "A day" or "B day", and my schedule is a little blurry.
6. I used to win all of the girls camp burping contests. I can burp "I love you... I do not participate in that activity anymore, however, as I want my husband to remain married to me.
