Latest craft...
This is the first project I used my new Xyron on...
The Xyron is awesome... you can feed paper through, and depending on the cartridge, put permanent adhesive on the back (which I did to these letters), put re-positionable adhesive on it, laminate both sides, laminate top with adhesive on the back, or laminate the top with magnet on the back. It uses no power or batteries, and is awesome!!! I have had the smallest version for years and loved it but was limited to using about 1 1/2 inch things. It makes these projrcts a lot easier, it takes up to 9 inch wide paper. Cut drying time on this. I didn't have to modge podge letters on and then wait for it to dry before applying the diamond glaze...
I did get inspiration from Julie's pantry door...
And found a new use for these embellishments..

439...
...pilot holes that is...
The deck is nearly complete! I can hardly wait...
To help the process move along a little faster, I drilled some pilot holes to help the fastening go quicker, and less cures-filled.
I drilled at least 439... those are how many need to be filled with screws now.
I ask myself, was this worth it? Spending my day, drilling so many pilot holes?
I answer myself, yes... one afternoon spent drilling pilot holes equals one evening with a drastically less swear count coming from Merrill's mouth.
I did have to sacrifice reading/treadmill time.. Breaking Dawn, here I come...
I got an accessory that I have wanted ever since I saw Open Range... or was is Charlie and the Chocolate Factory?
Robert's... 50% off one item coupon. Stacy and I had a fun girls day out yesterday.
By the way.. Cricut packages are on sale there... $139.99... guess what I have been seriously considering...
And last but not least... proof that my girls do have some of my DNA: they love these...
Merrill hates cinnamon, but we girls sure love these yummy treats!
And Merrill has a surprise for me when he gets home?!

Cheez Whiz!!!
We are ready for a vacation!!!
Now the countdown begins for Powell...
I got my board shorts and Pey's life jacket...
But Cheez Whiz! It was a good Sunday!
8 new kids in primary today, only one a visitor. It helps that we had an active family move into the ward. I also got all of my names approved by the bishop!!! That's a major accomplishment... hopefully, Primary and Scouts will be fully staffed for a little while...:) The chorister even apologized for her comment and attitude a couple of weeks back. That was nice. She'll be out of town for the first two weeks of September, and I get to lead! Now we'll work on our songs for the program and get the kids weaned off the pics...
Merrill is pretty much back into the swing of things. Yesterday, while we were at the primary activity (which was awesome... how much fun can a bunch of kids have while hurling water balloons at their primary president??) he mowed, edged, and trimmed the lawn all by himself. We worked on the deck for a while until he ditched me for a night out with his brothers... glad he had fun :)...

My monthly allowance...
I've already spent August's allowance...
Let me explain:
I love to scrapbook (and craft)...
Mer loves music..
We needed to put a limit so we both don't go crazy, or one go crazy and the other one resent it, so we introduced the "spousal allowance program" in our home. Seems silly since he earns just about all of it... ;)
$50.00 that's enough...
I've spent mine, on the first day of the month...
But I did it for a bargain... Retail price: $119.00.
Robert's coupon for 50% off one item (Xyron NOT being an exclusion...)
I got it for $60.00... the sales women was quite certain that I couldn't do it... but I could!
Not bad!

Flashback Friday...
This is Merrill and Lynn (she was such a chunker...) five years ago... summer of 2003.
We had just had the deck covered with "outdoor carpet"... I prefer to call it astro turf... I didn't like the idea, but it was a quick fix. You see, the person who previously lived in our home before they were foreclosed upon, thought the solution to knots falling out of the deck wood, was to nail soup can lids over the created holes.... we also found one nailed on one side and screwed on the other in the sub floor of our hallway when we were replacing flooring... yeah, he was kind of a moron. We discovered the rusty toe slicers nailed to the deck after the snow melted (we bought our house in February 2001 during a very snowy winter..) We really didn't use the deck much, didn't have a need... didn't have kids, and didn't have friends to party all night with , so we didn't worry about it. Until this particular summer... we wanted to sell the house. Quick fix! Just cover the problem area like a band aid! A big green band aid...
Then the romance (not really even a friendship for me), quickly faded as the sun rotted our "outdoor carpet" (astro turf), which we found out later was a low quality carpet... hence why it powder-ized so quickly, not to mention how well our neighbor's pine tree needles love to stick up in the nap oh so dangerously, lying in wait for one of our bare feet to impale itself on the little bugger... oh, and pine tree sap stuck it was lovely too...
Here we are now... 2008.
Here's the "outdoor carpet" (astro turf).
Good Bye!!!
