Date night..

I invited my little self to a concert with Merrill this weekend.
Now, I don’t want you going off thinking of some big concert in an arena or other typical venue..  this concert was at our favorite spot, Kilby Court.
It is a garage to be quite honest, but so much better than just an ordinary garage.
It is a very intimate setting to see some of our favorite (but lesser-known) bands.

Friday Appleseed Cast came into town.  We have seen them before, but I have never seen them at Kilby.
Awesome.
That’s all I can say.
Drunkee-McGee next to us being all sorts of crazy didn’t even ruin the night.  When you are this close to the main event, how could that bug me?

We stood front row for the whole show (which consisted of parts one and two of one of their projects) and I managed to get some good shots with my camera phone.  I was a bit nervous taking the Nikon, because of people like Drunkee-McGee, that and I am still learning about the settings, wouldn’t want that flash to go off at a not so good moment!  I told Merrill that it would be fine, only to find out that the smaller camera had a dead battery.  Whoops.
Camera in the phone would have to do..
(Psst!  Don’t tell Merrill, but I do regret not taking it.  Next time..)
He didn’t have enough time to gather the things he wanted to either..  LPs and such to be autographed.
Next time..
After the show, we went and chatted-up the artists.
This is Merrill’s hobby, independent music.  He knows everything (seriously) about all of his favorite artists and even details about the labels they are on.  He was quite excited to talk to the opening band in particular.
Two band members of the Appleseed Cast were here before Thanksgiving, playing with Old Caines, and they were invited to stay at the hotel for the night.  They remembered Merrill,  but didn’t get to stay at the hotel this time (their next show was in the opposite direction) otherwise we would have gotten stuff signed.  He was bummed about that..
It was such a fun night!  I am thankful that Merrill let me tag-along, and I am thankful that Drunkee-McGee didn’t spill his ill-disguised booze on me. ;)
(Thanks too Mom and Dad for watching the girls!!)

Weekend in review..

Some of the more notable happenings of our weekend:

- Levi turned 3.

- Hallie turned 12, and made us feel our age.

- The hotel turned 1!!

- We had an actual date. (Post to come.)

- We submitted (yet again) to daylight savings time..  how have Hawaii and Arizona not fallen apart all these years without messing with their clocks?  (In other words: what a pain!)

- Taught my lesson a week early and it went so well!  There was great discussion and no tears (that fell anyway) from my eyes.  That is a rarity as I weep over just about everything!

- Enjoyed our Sunday together as a family, all snuggled in our bed eating snacks and watching movies and our weekly Simpson’s (of course), which left me with Cheez-It crumbs in my side of the bed.

Lovin’ it!

I love when I get a creativity bug.

I don’t love when it is for various projects of multiple mediums.

I have fabric projects in line..

Jewelry to make.

Scrapbook layout ideas coming out of my ears!!

Two crocheting projects going on..

Some re-decorating and up-cycling to go with that..

I have another digital online class to do and I really am excited to do it..

And the weather outside is gorgeous!!  I want to be there, playing and snapping pictures of the kids having fun.

See, I have just too much fun stuff to do!

So it pains me even more that I find this cute freebie from one of my all time favorite designers, and I have a hot date to attend to.

Sigh..

The “Not Me” ghost..

It seems that a childhood house guest of my family, has taken up residence in my home with my little family.

He/she is fondly known as the “Not Me Ghost”.

He/she makes frequent appearances, but isn’t seen by anyone when he/she shows up.

We only see the aftermath.

When things are askew, something broken, a mess made, my favorite treat polished off, garbage on the floor, or other unpleasant happenings occur,  and the question is asked, “Who did this?”  it is answered by a chorus of “Not me!”  (I am positive that this will be Peyton’s next learned phrase.)

And there you have it, the “Not Me Ghost” has paid us a visit.

I have noticed his/her visits are happening more frequently, and so have our little talks about honesty, and making good choices.

I wish I could remember how long it took until the “Not Me Ghost” stopped visiting my house growing up..  I wonder if he/she visits there now, of course only to visit our offspring, my parents grandchildren..  maybe relive a few fond memories?

Maybe the more frequent visits will make it necessary to finish one of those basement bedrooms just for his/her comfort.

I would hate to not be hospitable.

March 10th..

About 20 years behind..

I guess I am older than I think..

I thought that 30 was a big milestone, and it is, but according the the AARP, I hit that milestone 20 years ago.

That would have made my mom 6 and 1/2 years old when I was born.

I have really been receiving these mailings since I turned 18.

That was fun.

I became an adult, but someone else thought that I was beyond that point already.

I love how they are there for me…

When I laughed, then laughed again, then laughed some more as I took pictures of my special mail, Merrill said, “I guess I really got a cougar.”

Sure thing babe. ;)
