Peyton likes to keep me on my toes. Let’s just say that.
Yesterday before sacrament meeting started, she was being too wiggly and irreverent. I took her out before the meeting began and talked to her about what was expected of her while we were in the chapel. We went back in and soon after, she picked up where I had interrupted her the first time, which earned her another private visit with mom in the foyer.
Third time’s the charm, right?
Nope. Not so much.
Right as the Aaronic Priesthood were passing the sacrament, she started again. I pulled her onto my lap, to whisper in her ear to be reverent only to have her start saying rather loudly: “Shut….”
Now with her most recent behavior, I expected “up” to follow that shut.
I got my hand over her mouth just in time to muffle: “Your mouth mom..”
I was so relieved that it wasn’t “up”, but slightly embarrassed that most of the people who were sitting behind us (we were on the FRONT row) heard.
Sister Alexander was laughing so hard, tears were coming out of her eyes, and a snort escaped as well.
(I am sure it helped that Peyton kept repeating it, just in a loud whisper.)
She kept apologizing for her laughter, but thanked us for the moment.
I hope little miss potty mouth stops her shenanigans soon.

You realize that's WHY Cami sits behind you guys....
I figure, one day, when our children are almost adults and relatively well behaved, it will be our turn to enjoy watching the antics of the younger families....
I had the hardest time stopping myself from laughing. My sister had to hit me on the shoulder. You should have seen Bishops and Bro. Mitchell's faces. That's where I was looking when that popped out. At first I thought it might have been from Ashley, but then I noticed you picking up Peyton. And it didn't totally sound like Ashley.
I still can't believe that came from "innocent, sweet" little Peyton!
:) it was so fun to see you! Peyton is the cutest. What a funny story!
Pey does make me laugh with her potty mouth....But if you're ranking, I'm not so sure 'shut your mouth' is any better than 'shut up'. ;)
Glad I'm not the only one covering mouths during sacrament meeting... :)
Sorry but I'm laughing, because we have all been there. She is so darn cute!
I'm with "Ally's Corner" here. Apologizing through my laughter. At least it wasn't something like "oh crap".
I think all of us have gone through similar things..at least she didn't swear! ;)My sister swore right into the microphone during a talk in sacrament-meeting, because she dropped her scriptures!
